Texas Cool-Season Grasses Cool-season grasses grow best in spring and fall and are primarily adapted in North Texas.
They do not tolerate the summer heat and high humidity of most areas of the state.
Kentucky Bluegrass Kentucky bluegrass is a fine-leaved turfgrass widely used for lawns in the northern states.
It is adapted in the Panhandle region of Texas, but requires irrigation.
